Benzyl Benzoate USP/FCC
Benzyl Benzoate is widely used in the perfume and pharmaceutical industries. Its high molecular weight and nearly odorless nature make it a widely used perfume fixative. It also has application as a solvent for artificial musks, and as a plasticizer for cellulose acetate, and nitro cellulose. Benzyl Benzoate is used in topical formulations for the treatment of lice and scabies and has application in confectioneries and chewing gum. It is also used in the manufacture of fine candle products, where it is used to incorporate fragrances into wax and in addition, promotes clean burning. Benzyl benzoate is an FDA approved Synthetic Flavoring Substance
Benzyl Alcohol
Benzyl alcohol is the most industrially useful aromatic primary alcohol. While benzyl alcohol exists in nature, commercially available benzyl alcohol is produced industrially by either of two different synthetic processes. Benzyl alcohol offered by the Kalama plant is produced by the hydrogenation of benzaldehyde which was produced by the liquid phase air oxidation of toluene. As a result this benzyl alcohol contains no chlorine, in contrast to benzyl alcohol produced via the toluene chlorination process.
We currently product three grades of benzyl alcohol for use in the following applications:
Pharmaceuticals Chemical Intermediates
Flavor and Fragrances Photographic chemicals
Personal care
